A large number of GDA employees participated in the four-day event held at their office.

GDA secretary Vijay Bahadur Singh took permission from district magistrate Dr Hariom who is also holding the charge of vice-chairman of the authority to organise the event.

The development authority is in news for the past one year for corruption in the department.

On the fourth day, when the Mahayagya ended, Havan was organised on the GDA premises and senior officials participated in it. Sources said the district magistrate was to participate in the Havan, but at the last moment, he changed his mind.

Talking to HT, Dr Hariom admitted that secretary of the GDA wrote a letter to him, seeking permission, to organise the Mahayagya and Havan.

He felt that allowing the Havan with objective to weed out the fear from the minds of the employees was not objectionable, and it would restore the confidence of the employees. On the application submitted by the secretary, the DM marked: ‘Bhagwan Aap Ka Bhala Karein (May God promote your welfare)’.

The GDA employees are of view that there are some Vastu Dosha in construction of the new building of GDA office near Ramgarh Tal. The office of Gorakhpur Nagar Nigam was shifted here to and since then the employees of the authority are facing stringent action like suspension and bad entries from the senior officials.

In last two years, the state government suspended 25 employees and sudden transfer of 15 employees has generated a sense of fear among the GDA officials.

Secretary of the GDA Vijay Bahadur Singh said eight employees of the authority died in last two years and many others are suffering from various diseases.
