Major booked for ?beating? officer
THE GORAKHPUR police here on Thursday booked an Army Major for beating up an Assistant Engineer (AE) of Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) supervising the repair work of a pipeline coming from the river Narmada.

After the incident, the employees stopped their work for the better part of the day and as a result of this half of the City didn’t get water supply in the evening.
According to JMC officials, Major Kale came to the spot with a stick and beat up AE S K Kureel, shouting that the repair work being carried out near Katanga Army Officers’ Colony was disturbing his sleep in the small hours of Thursday.
The Gorakhpur police said that they have registered a case under sections 323, 355 and 34 of the IPC against Major Kale. The police said they neither could get the initials of the Major nor his Regiment, as the Army guards didn’t allow them the enter the colony to investigate the matter. “We are contacting the Army higher-ups to proceed in the case”, the police said.
