“Those who refuse to sing Vande Mataram should be treated as ‘anti-nationals,’ Samvidanand Saraswati told mediapersons here on Wednesday.

“Some so-called political figures are creating fuss over the issue of Vande Mataram recital and trying to lower the spirit of patriotism”, he said and added that such type of nefarious attempts should be checked because it was an
‘insult’ to those freedom-fighters who sang this energetic National Song and sacrificed their lives while fighting against the British.

He said that the song Vande Mataram, which was authored by Bankim Chandra Chattoapdhya on September 7, 1906 and composed by Nasik-based musician Pundit Vishnu Digambar Paluskar, has the capacity to inculcate the feeling of patriotism among common masses. He further added that national-religion was above all religions.

“Kailash Mutt will organise a collective recital of Vande Mataram at a big ground in Nasik in which several social organisations, religious leaders of all religions and large number of school kids would participate on the centenary celebration of Vande Mataram on September 7”, he said.

He alleged that some anti-national elements were trying to give a new shape to terrorism by opposing the recital of Vande Mataram in the country. He then recited self-composed couplets, depicting the current situation of the country.

Meanwhile, Swami Samwidanand Saraswati declared a financial assistance of Rs 5000 to a 6-year old kid of Varanasi, Rajan, who is battling for life due to blood cancer. He said that his Mutt would afford his free medical treatment in case he came to Mahrashtra for the purpose.
