Palianappan Aavadi, 30, was ordered to serve his jail sentence and pay a fine of 8,000 ringgit ($2,150) after he was found guilty of grabbing and kissing the young girl, a stranger, the Star daily said.
Palianappan, who works as a foreign labourer in the capital Kuala Lumpur, was also made to pay the young girl 4,000 ringgit ($1,075) in compensation.
His lawyer had appealed to the court for a lighter sentence, saying that Palianappan had to send money back to India to support his wife and children.
Foreign labourers in Malaysia working in the construction or plantation industry earn as little as 800 ringgit ($215) a month, depending on their skills.
