Mallya was present in House on one day during Budget session

Amid a raging controversy over UB Group Chairman Vijay Mallya leaving the country, the Rajya Sabha attendance data on Sunday showed that the liquor baron was present on only one day during the current Budget session.

Amid a raging controversy over UB Group Chairman Vijay Mallya leaving the country, the Rajya Sabha attendance data on on Sunday showed that the liquor baron was present on only one day during the current Budget session.

He reportedly last attended the Rajya Sabha on March 1.

The attendance data showed that during his second term as a Rajya Sabha MP, Mallya attended the House for only 121 days out the total 424 sittings.

Mallya entered the Rajya Sabha as an independent member on July 1, 2010 and his term ends on June 30 this year. This is the last regular session of his six-year term.

His first term as a MP was from April 10, 2002 to April 2008.

His attendance was highest in 2010, but saw a sharp decline in last two years.

In the 220th session (from July 7 to August 31, 2010), the independent MP from Karnataka attended 20 sittings of the 26 while in 224th session (From November 11, 2011 to December 29, 2011), he attended 14 sessions of 24.

During the special session (from June 9 to 11, 2014) Mallya did not attended Parliament even once.

According to the attendance data, in 2014, Mallya attended Parliament only 13 times in comparison to the 64 sitting the Rajya Sabha.

Mallya has also not tabled any private member bill in this term.
