ACTING ON a tip-off, MG Road police arrested a drug peddler from Bihar and recovered 7.5 kg of ganja from his possession yesterday.
According to MG Road police station in-charge R S Jhala, SI Chouhan received information from police sources that a person carrying narcotic substance would be found around the Jail Road area.
Acting on the tip-off, the police laid a trap and nabbed Mukesh Kumar Chouhan of village Kenari, district Gaya (Bihar) from near Chimanbag Square. The police recovered 7.5 kg ganja from his possession, the value of which is estimated to be Rs 20,000 in the local market.
It was learnt that he had brought ganja once before to the City for sale. This time he gave the name of his contact as Munnibai of Banganga area. A police party was sent to the place mentioned by him but returned empty-handed, as no one of the name and description lived there.
The police believe that he may be a regular drug peddler involved in a racket and he was trying to mislead the police. The police have taken him on remand till January 13 and have registered a case against him under Section 8/20 of the
