A man reportedly committed suicide after hacking to death his three minor sons due to strained relations with his wife at village Jahri in Sonepat district, on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as Joginder (40) and his three minor- sons Aman (12), Ashish (9) and Prince (6). Strained relations between the parents of the deceased children were believed to be the reason behind the loss of four lives.
According to reports, when a class mate of one of the deceased came to the deceased's house while going to school this morning, he saw Aman's father Joginder hanging from the ceiling fan in the house. Neighbourers rushed to the house as the child, apparently shocked on watching the scene, started crying.
The villagers informed the police were shocked to see the bodies of the victims. It was believed that Joginder attacked his minor sons with a sharp-edged weapon and subsequently committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his house late at night.
On receiving information, the police and forensic experts reached the spot. After preliminary investigation, the police sent the bodies for post mortem.
A sharp edged farm impliment, suspected to have been used in killing the children, was recovered from the spot. The forensic experts also lifted some samples from the scene of the incident. The children's bodies bore multiple injury marks.
At the time of incident, Joginder's wife Kashmiro was not present in the house as she had gone to her 'peehar' (parental home). The deceased's family members told the police that Joginder and Kashmiro had strained relations leading to frequent quarrels between them.
Consequently, she had been staying with her parents at village Mungan in Rohtak district most of the time during the last several years.
