A man allegedly killed his 23-year-old daughter by holding her head down in a tub full of water as he was suspicious about her relationship with a family friend. S Raju reports.

A man allegedly killed his 23-year-old daughter by holding her head down in a tub full of water as he was suspicious about her relationship with a family friend.

Police have taken Bhim Singh, an engineer, into custody on the complaint of his wife, Shashi. They are also questioning the friend, Saquib.

The body of Mala, a BCom student, was found in the bathroom of her house on Friday.

"He was totally against Saquib, which led to many altercations in the family," Shashi told HT, adding that he had beaten up the family members just a day ago over the same issue.

"The circumstantial evidence points to Bhim Singh," said SSP K Satyanarayan. Atul Sharma of the NGO Sankalp called it "a case of honour killing".
