The two rallies were held in the holy city of Amritsar and at Khadoor Sahib, 52 km away.
Campaigning in support of O.P.Soni, the Congress candidate pitted against the BJP’s Navjot Singh Sidhu, Singh said the state government was misleading people by releasing advertisements claiming credit for work that had actually been done by the Centre.
Singh,76, also dwelt at length on his association with Amritsar, where his family had sought refuge after migrating from Pakistan. “The love and affection shown me by the people of Amritsar remain my eternal strength,” he said.
Rahul said Manmohan was not just the pride of Punjab, but of the whole country. “He is all set to lead the country for the next five years as well,” he said.
