Markfed all set to earn record profit

Markfed is all set to earn a record profit of 23.23 crore this year as compared to Rs 49.87 crore earned over the last three years.

Asia's largest agriculture marketing cooperative Markfed is all set to earn a record profit of 23.23 crore this year as compared to Rs 49.87 crore earned over the last three years.

The cooperative, with annual turnover of Rs 9,528 crore for 2004-05, earned foreign exchange worth Rs 1,250 crore through wheat exports.

Markfed had also been designated the nodal agency for Agriculture Export Zone of potato crop, Markfed Managing Director SS Channy said.

The cooperative also signed an MoU with a Canadian company for setting up bulk storage and bulk handling facility for foodgrains for the roller flour mills of the state.

The Rs 67 crore project is lying with the centre and food ministry for their approval.

The Managing Director also claimed that Markfed has been sending its Sohna ready-to-eat canned food and basmati rice to North America, Europe, Australia and Middle East.
