January 23, 1996: Priyadarshini Mattoo allegedly raped and killed by Santosh Kumar Singh.

January 25, 1996: Case transferred from Delhi Police to the CBI.

April 11, 1996: CBI files chargesheet in the case against Santosh Singh.

August 29, 1996: Charges framed against Santosh Singh.

December 3, 1999: Additional Sessions Judge GP Thareja acquits Santosh; CBI lashed for shoddy probe.

Feb 29, 2000: CBI appeals in Delhi High Court.

April 26, 2000: High Court admits appeal.

July 22, 2006: CBI files application for early hearing.

August 31, 2006: High Court orders daily hearings in the case.

Sept 27, 2006: High Court reserves judgment in the case.

Oct 17, 2006: Delhi High court convicts Santosh Singh for raping and killing Priyadarshini Mattoo.

Oct 30, 2006 : The High Court awards death penalty to Santosh.

January 2007: Santosh challenges the High Court verdict in the Supreme Court.
