Govind Tiwari is a superstar.

The 18-year-old Allahabad boy blinked his eyes to stardom on his blog (govindtiwari.blogspot.com) — a kitschy mix of YouTube videos, friendship requests and old Hindi numbers that play to a series of still photos of Tiwari himself.

Sixty thousand hits later and trending on Twitter, Tiwari is a mini-celeb.

The blog, he says, was inspired by his favourite actor — Govinda.

“Maine yeh blog do saal pehle shuru kiya tha, par tabh sirf Govinda ki hi pictures thi. Mujhe apni padhai ka practical karna tha. Six months ago, I put up my own pictures and posted the link on Twitter,” said Tiwari over phone on what incidentally happened on to be his birthday.

The popularity has even led to job offers. “I’ve got a lot of calls from computer firms to develop similar content, but I’m not interested,” he said, adding that he recently quit his job at a computer institute to prepare for a BA in Computer Applications.

Reacting to several jokes about his tacky blog design, he said that all the mockery doesn’t bother him.

“Jo log misbehave kartein hai unki aadat hoti hai ... blog mein aisa kucch nahi hai jisse logon koh dukh pahuche, toh aisa kyon?”

Initially, his parents were clueless about the reasons for his fame, but, once he explained, they were happy too.

“Main dhanyavaad karta hun sabka jinhone meri prashansa ki,” he said.
