Meet on Hindutva raises questions

However, the saffron brigade activists claimed that it would strengthen national integration.

Former MLC and senior Samajwadi Party leader Devendra Pratap Singh condemned the organisers of the seminar and blamed them for defaming Hindutva.

Talking to reporters, Singh said Hindutva was an ideology and there was no place for hatred in Hinduism.

He said the saffron brigade equalised violence with Hindutva. This was is against the spirit of Hindutva, he said. Expressing his views, coordinator of Gandhi Vichar Manch Fateh Bahadur Singh and head of the department of law Prof Anirudh Prasad sent a message through Fax to the Governor.

He demanded that the seminar should be put on hold. Prof Anirudh Prasad said the RSS and its frontal organisations were misusing the soil of university to propagate their ideology. He also demanded that an inquiry into the appointment of teachers and the employees.

Meanwhile, former V-C of the DDU Gorakhpur University Prof Radhemohan Mishra justified holding of such seminar.

He said university provided platform for open discussion on all issues.
