“Abdullah had lost all moral authority to run a transparent and honest administration. It was always known that chief minister’s office has now become the fountain head of institutionalised corruption but Haji Yousuf episode exposed the corrupt practices within the Abdullah family and misuse of the chief minister’s institution conclusively,” said Mehbooba during a party meeting in Srinagar.

Saying that the chief minister and his family have so much to answer, Mehbooba said, “How can he (the chief minister) reign in his ministers or the corrupt officials?

Mehbooba said the involvement of ministers in one or the other scams is swelling. “Corruption has travelled down to the junior most officials making the life of common man miserable,” alleged Mehbooba.

Attacking ruling National Conference over degradation of Srinagar city, Mehbooba said the Srinagar city, represented by the NC through its eight MLA’s and an MP, is ironically turning out to be the worst victim.

“All the projects started by PDP-Congress coalition like the beautification of Jehlum, conservation of Dal lake, beautification of Eidgah, construction of seven flyovers have been shelved. The NC government has converted Srinagar into a virtual destitute city,” alleged Mehbooba.

For raising voice against the excesses, Mehbooba said, the Abdullah administration has targeted the youth of the city. “After killing 120 of them last year across the valley, many of them from Srinagar, thousands have been framed on fake charges and involved in police cases. Rounding up of youth in Srinagar has become a norm and a source of income for the workers of NC,” alleged the PDP president.

The PDP as part of its ongoing campaign against corruption, misgovernance, human rights violation and harassment of youth the PDP is holding protest demonstrations at zone levels on December 24.
