Merger of IHF, IWHF likely

The modalities for setting up a unified body with the merger of the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) and Indian Women’s Hockey Federation (IWHF) will be worked out at a special meeting of IHF called by KPS Gill in New Delhi on Sunday.

All state associations affiliated to IHF before 2008 have been invited for the meeting.

With the Delhi High Court revoking the suspension of IHF, Gill wants to set hockey activities into motion. A merger with the women’s body, elections for the unified body and allotting of the national championships for this season are on the agenda for Sunday’s meeting.

Meanwhile, the Sports Ministry is deputing a senior official as government observer for the meeting.
