Meritorious girls to get scholarship

RURAL GIRL students belonging to poor families, who pass higher secondary exams in first division, would be provided with a scholarship of Rs 500 per month to help them take up higher education under the Gaon ki Beti Scheme.

The ambitious scheme of the State Government was formally launched by Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan at village Paan Bahar at Ujjain on Thursday.

The Chief Minister provided certificates under the scheme to seven girls to launch the scheme. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said women were the backbone of family and society and if they were educated, they would make an entire generation educated.

Public relations, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar lauded the fact that the scheme was launched from a small village and said the scheme would prove to be a milestone in field of girls’ education.

Former Union Minister Dr Satyanarayan Jatia congratulated the Chief Minister for launching such a thoughtful scheme. Commissioner of Public Instruction L S Baghel, Ujjain Collector Neeraj Mandloi and other senior officials were present.
