According to police spokesman, the resident of Sopore was injured when militants opened fire at him from a close range. “Unknown pistol borne militants fired at Ghulam Hassan Cheechak, a resident of Yaseen Colony Arampora, Sopore, just outside his residence,” said the spokesman.

The injured civilian was admitted to a hospital where he was declared out of danger.

“Four empty cartridges of Chinese caliber were recovered from the scene of occurrence. The police have registered a case and further investigations are on,” said the spokesman.

In south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, two persons received splinter injuries when two grenades lying in a pit exploded. “The victims were clearing the pit when the devices went off,” said the eyewitnesses.
