After surrendering before the court, Thackeray will officially be arrested and can then move an application for regular bail as his pre-arrest bail has been cancelled by the high court, sources close to him told HT.

On June 16, the high court had set aside Thackeray’s anticipatory bail for the alleged assault by his party cadre on North Indian candidates who had come to the city for a railway recruitment examination on October 19, 2008.

Thackeray has been booked on charges of instigating his party workers. The state had filed an appeal challenging the anticipatory bail granted to him. The high court had asked Thackeray to surrender before the court by June 30.
