Model code violation case against Fernandes

The FIR was lodged with the Muzaffarpur (town) police station by Executive Magistrate Shanker Mahto against Fernandes, the sitting MP from here, for moving around in a convoy of six vehicles, in violation of Section 144 CrPC, official sources said.

The model code provides bars moving in a motorcade exceeding three vehicles.

Fernandes, who has been refused party nomination for Lok Sabha polls on ground of poor health, arrived here this evening from Delhi to consult his supporters on whether to contest election from here as an independent in defiance of the party decision.
