A moderate intensity earthquake rocked Kangra, Mandi, Shimla and Chamba districts of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday afternoon measuring 5.2 on the richter scale. It took place at 1.41 pm and lasted for a few seconds.

A moderate intensity earthquake rocked Kangra, Mandi, Shimla and Chamba districts of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday afternoon.

The earthquake measuring 5.2 on the richter scale took place at 1.41 pm and lasted for a few seconds, the local MeT office said.

The epicentre of the earthquake was at the Chamba-Kangra border in Himachal Pradesh. No loss of life or damage to property has been reported from any part of the state. People ran out of their houses in Palampur and parts of Kangra and Mandi districts. School children left classes in panic as strong tremors were felt, reports reaching here said.
