Kalmadi was the president of AFI for the last 12 years. In a press statement issued here today, association’s president N S Parmar said that athletics in India achieved new heights during his reign. “His formal absence from the association is irreparable. He along with secretary Lalit Bhanaot gave a new direction to athletics in the Country”, said Parmar.
MPAAA secretary Dr Mumtaz Khan gave all credit to Kalmadi for the recent performance of athletes at the national and international level. “His vision was clear and athletes were also performing to the expectations. We will request him to continue with the association”, said Mumtaz.
The association members will very soon meet Kalmadi and present their request.
