Nadal into Wimbledon fourth round

Second seed Rafael Nadal beat Sweden's Robin Soderling 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 4-6, 7-5 as the rain-hit tie finally comes to an end.

Second seed Rafael Nadal beat Sweden's Robin Soderling 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (7/9), 4-6, 7-5 on Wednesday to reach the Wimbledon last 16 as his marathon, rain-hit third round tie finally came to a conclusion.

Nadal will take on Russia's Mikhail Youzhny for a place in the quarter-finals, but he will have little time to rest with the backlog of matches meaning the Spaniard now faces the prospect of playing every day this week if he is to reach the final.

French Open champion Nadal came back to Court One on Wednesday with the scores level at 4-4 in the final set in a tie which should have been completed on Saturday.

He wrapped it up on his fifth match point of the 12th game, and sixth of the match, when Soderling hit long after just over four hours on court.
