A number of Naga students' organisations, including the All Naga Students' Association, Manipur and the Naga Students' Federation have condemned "in the strongest terms" the killing of 23-year-old Leisichon Shaiza, who was stabbed to death at Gateway of India in Mumbai on Saturday. The students' unions have demanded that appropriate ex-gratia payment be paid to the next of kin of the deceased. The Maharashtra government should also take up all medical expenses incurred in treating the injured, they demanded. The student bodies also wants the Maharashtra government to take adequate measures for the security of Nagas residing in that state.

Leisichon who hails from Ukhrul in Manipur and her friend 20-year-old Ngakuimi Raleng had gone to the Taj Hotel for a job interview. They were attacked when they were out sightseeing at the Gateway of india after the interview. The assailant who later gave himself up to the police stabbed Ngakuimi on her forehead. While Leisichon was repeatedly stabbed on her neck by the deranged man. Ngakuimi has since been struggling for her life at Mumbai's GT Hospital.
According to the Mumbai police, the assailant was a deranged man who had stabbed and wounded his father in the morning before attacking the girls.
