Ganga, and her husband, Pramod Mishra, were picked up from an Udaipur village late on Thursday.

The couple was hiding in the house of one Shankar Prajapat, a local businessman and a supporter of Asaram. They were handed over to the Gujarat Police on Friday morning.

The godman and his son are in tight spot after two Surat sisters accused them of sexual abuse. Asaram was arrested on September 1 on charges of raping the elder sister in his ashram near Jodhpur. He is currently lodged in Jodhpur central jail. The younger sister has accused Sai, who is on the run, of molestation.

“The couple had reached Udaipur after the Gujarat Police issued an arrest warrant against them. This was close on the heels of the Surat sisters accusing them of supplying girls to Sai,” Anant Kumar, deputy superintendent of police, Udaipur (west), said.

The police made the arrests on a tip-off from Prajapat, who said he had met Ganga three years ago at Asaram’s Ahmedabad ashram. “The couple wanted to stay at my house for a few days,” he added.

Ganga, a native of Jharkhand, and Mishra, a resident of Gujarat, had told Prajapat that they had come to visit Nathdwara Temple in Rajsanand district.
