Narine's magic tilts the scale towards the Knight Riders
Both Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings are evenly matched though the presence of Sunil Narine will slightly tilt the balance in KKR's favour. Narine has variation and his line is good. Sourav Ganguly writes.india Updated: May 27, 2012 16:48 IST
One thing which will not happen in the final is Gautam winning the toss and asking Chennai to bat. In big games, the theory is to win the toss and bat. But Bhajji and Viru had a different game-plan, which turned out to be conducive for their opponents.
Even Dhoni will bat if he wins the toss on Sunday. If CSK win, they will be completing a hat-trick of titles, which will be difficult to emulate. For KKR, it's the first time, which is huge pressure. So, I don't think any team will try and take the chance of catching up.
Both the teams are evenly matched though the presence of Sunil Narine will slightly tilt the balance in KKR's favour. It is not that he is unplayable but batsmen are playing pre-meditated shots against him.
Narine has variation and his line is good.
This gives him more chances in this format. Due to Narine's presence, along with Shakib, Abdulla and Pathan, the track in the final will be truer than those we have seen in Chennai, and the spinners will be tested.
CSK batting strong
Coming to batting, Chennai look a bit ahead. Vijay, Hussey and, most importantly, Dhoni have come out with purpose. The KKR batting has looked a little dependent on Gautam, but Pathan, Laxmi, Debabrata, Kallis and McCullum have the ability to play it big on a particular day.
The experienced Kallis and McCullum will have to fire on this crucial day. KKR will have a worry if Balaji is not fit. He has bowled well.
I have liked the way Gautam has carried the team and handled situations. He will be up against Dhoni, who knows how to be up to the situation. Both are instinctive people and it will be interesting as to who will not allow the occasion to affect his instinct.
