?Need to upgrade syllabi, quality of tech education?

THE NEED of paying special attention to upgrading of syllabi and bring about improvement in quality in technical education has been stressed by Minister of State for Higher and Technical Education Tukojirao Pawar. The minister?s remarks came during a review meeting of the technical education department held recently.

THE NEED of paying special attention to upgrading of syllabi and bring about improvement in quality in technical education has been stressed by Minister of State for Higher and Technical Education Tukojirao Pawar. The minister’s remarks came during a review meeting of the technical education department held recently.

Principal Secretary (PS) of Technical Education Dilip Mehra, Director, Training Directorate (Jabalpur) Sonali Wayangaonkar and other officials of the department were present.

Emphasising that employment-oriented technical education is important, the minister said employment oriented education should be encouraged while keeping quality upgrading in view. He said the redundant courses should be closed down and such trades and courses that have relevance at present should be introduced, so that youth get well equipped to face the challenges of the competitive world.

He also emphasised on academic and financial discipline and called for action against those private engineering colleges that are not adhering to the norms.

He said for this purpose regular inspections should be undertaken. PS Dilip Mehra gave details of the activities of the department and said special attention is being paid to improve quality of technical education.
