District Congress Committee organised a seminar at its office to mark the occasion. The speakers recalled Nehru’s contributions in the democratic set-up of the country.
They said that it was Panditji’s foresight that the country was successfully running as parliamentary democracy and had become the world’s largest democracy.
They also recalled his contributions in setting up a new economic policy, foreign policy and the five-year-plans.
President of District Congress Committee, Satish Choubey presided over the seminar.
Similarly, a meeting of Indian National Trade Union Congress was organised here at its office today. Trade union leaders offered flowers on the portrait of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru to mark the occasion.
Presiding over the meeting district general secretary of INTUC, Pankaj Srivastva said Jawahar Lal Nehru had led the nation into an era of peace. He remembered the PM’s contributions in the industrial development of the country.
Prominent among those who addressed the meeting included Radhakant Mishra, Manoj Singh, Shailendra Singh, Ashutosh Singh, Dr Moin Khan, Subodh Kant Tiwari and Rakesh Kumar Srivastava.
Activists of Mahanagar Sonia Gandhi Brigade observed the death anniversary at its party office today. President of the brigade Pramod Verma highlighted the contributions of Pt Nehru.
