NER revenue up, says GM

GENERAL MANAGER of North-Eastern Railway SK Vij has claimed that the zone has witnessed 10 per cent increase in annual revenue in comparison to the correspondent period of last year. He claimed that year 2005-06 was full of achievements for the zone and the Railway Minister awarded Rs 50 lakh as group award to the employees. He said for the next year 14 per cent increase in revenue was the target and expressed the hope that NER would achieve it with collaboration and dedication of employees.

Delivering his views in a programme to felicitate the employees for their performance at Syed Modi Railway Station, Vij said that passenger-oriented zone of NER had to develop a friendly relationship with passengers to gain their confidence. He directed the subordinate officials to provide attention to all the traders who booked their carriages at various railway stations of the zones.

Vij expressed hope that track conversion work between Farrukhabad-Kanpur, Farrukhabad-Mathura and Chhapra-Siwan would be completed in time and the double rail track would be set up in between Barabanki-Chhapra in different stages.

Highlighting the achievements of the department, he said in 2005-06, NER registered an increase of 8.13 per cent in passengers and this was possible due to better and quality services to the passengers. He further said that 16 NER stations had been shortlisted to be developed as a model railway station. The work of upgradation of services for passengers on this railway station was in the final stage.
