It will cover the 329-kilometre route in five hours and fifteen minutes, which is one hour more than the Shatabdi Express running between Ludhiana and New Delhi via Karnal.
The new train (1238-1237) will run for four days a week on every Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday in both the directions, Muniyappa said.
This is the first Shatabdi to link the two cities via Sangrur and Rohtak.
He said that after two months it will start running on all the seven days. This is the 10th Shatabdi service on Northern railway, he added.
