NHRC notice to Delhi govt over missing children

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued a notice to the Delhi government and the police over missing children after a four-year-old boy was kidnapped from Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued a notice to the Delhi government and the police over missing children after a four-year-old boy was kidnapped from Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.

At least 50 children went missing from the Capital in the first eight days of this month, according to police data.

Taking suo motu cognizance of media reports regarding the abduction, the commission asked Delhi chief secretary and the police commissioner to submit a report within four weeks on whether the guidelines on missing children issued in August 2007 are being strictly followed or not.

A Delhi government official said they are aware of the problem and are in touch with the police to tackle the problem.
