Night curfew imposed near International Border
Apprehending infiltration of militants, Jammu district authorities on Wednesday imposed night curfew in a kilometer-long vulnerable area along the International Border in the district for two months.
Movement of civilians has been restricted during night hours from 2200 hours to 0600 hours in areas falling within one kilometer distance from IB, Jammu District Magistrate Mandeep K Bhandari said.
This has been necessitated in view of apprehension of smuggling of weapons as also likelihood of infiltration of militants from across the border, he said.
The movement of civilian during night hours is likely to confuse troops deployed there and also endanger lives of innocent people, he said.
As per intelligence reports, militants are making efforts to infiltrate into the country. Moreover, there is immense growth of bushes along the IB which restricts visibility even during day time.
