Attempting to quicken the development process in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met Union Chemical and Fertilisers Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Tuesday and held discussions to revive plants in Barauni and Nalanda.

"Both of us are interested in reviving the fertiliser factory in Barauni and the ordinance factory in Nalanda and are having discussions with officials concerned to initiate the process," Nitish Kumar said.

On the ordinance factory in Nalanda, Kumar said that it was not fair to stop the work when the Centre had already spent Rs 300 crore and the construction work was almost done.

"We have come to know that that the Defence Ministry is perhaps not keen on furthering the project," he said, adding that it was not fair to discriminate against the state in initiating such important projects.

If the problem is of technology, the Ministry concerned should take steps either to import the technology or use indigenous technologies to make the plant functional, he said.
