"I tried to contact him over telephone once, but did not succeed. I have read only in the newspapers and seen him on TV a couple of times," AICC treasurer, Moti Lal Vora said.

Interacting with the media on the sidelines of the party's election campaign committee meting here, Vora, who is party's in-charge of Haryana affairs, said he had no knowledge about Chand's leaving the country.

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda refused to comment on the issue.

Two months ago, Chander Mohan, elder son of former chief minister Bhajan Lal created a sensation when he changed his name to Chand Mohammed and announced his marriage to Anuradha Bali (now Fiza) after both said they had adopted Islam.

On BJP, Vohra said the party was in the habit of raising issues like the Ayodhya at the time of polls.

"Their (BJP) motive is only how to derive some benefit by raising these issues. People now know they are not trustworthy and will teach them a lesson at the polls," Vora claimed.
