Noida police verify students’ antecedents

Educational institutions across Noida and Greater Noida have beefed up security in the aftermath of Mumbai terror attacks, reports Kapil Datta.

Educational institutions across Noida and Greater Noida have beefed up security in the aftermath of Mumbai terror attacks.

The Greater Noida Police, under whose jurisdiction there are over 500 private colleges, has launched a verification drive of all the college students.

DK Garg, president of Association of Greater Noida Institutions, said, “Over 30,000 students are enrolled at various engineering and management colleges in Greater Noida. The colleges have been directed to get the mark sheets and other documents of these students verified from the boards concerned.”

Garg added, “The authorities have also been asked to keep a check on students who have been missing classes frequently.”

Senior Superintendent of Police R.K. Chaturvedi, said, “Verification drive of students and other tenants living in the sectors have been launched. And a blueprint of all major hotels, schools, shopping complexes in Noida and Greater Noida is being prepared.”

In Noida, schools have intensified their security arrangements. Delhi Public School, Noida, administrator Paul Thomas said, “Additional guards have been deployed and CCTV network made functional and metal detectors have been provided to the security guards.”

“Entry of all vehicles is being manned strictly. Vehicles are allowed entry only through special permission,” said Savita Mehta, spokesperson, Amity Group of Institutions.
