Congress candidate Chaudhary Jitendra Singh filed his nomination paper for the mayor post. Only one nomination was filed for mayor's post while 12 papers were filed for the corporator posts on the first day of the filing of nomination papers.
Chaudhary Jitendra Singh reached the Collectorate in a procession taken out from his residence. He addressed a public meeting in front of Collectorate gate where he flayed the State Government and previous mayor for ignoring the development of the city.
Meanwhile, tight security arrangements were made around Collectorate for filing of nomination papers. All entry points to Collectorate from the side of Luxmi Talkies, Police Lines and Stanley road were sealed and no vehicles were allowed. Police and traffic personnel were deployed at these points for smooth filing of nominations today. As many as 37 wards are reserved for OBC, SC and ST categories after delimitation of new wards in Nagar Nigam.
Meanwhile, candidates are running from pillar to post to get no dues certificate from Nagar Nigam. According to officials nearly 500 persons have applied for no dues certificates. About 450 persons have already been issued the certificates.
