Jones says that her mother keeps her in check to make sure she does not develop an inflated ego.
Contactmusic.com quoted her as saying: "I think my mom's way too harsh on me! She's at me before I've even done anything, 'Just in case'. She's always thought very little of fame.
"She came with me to the Grammy's that first year and by the time I was being called up for my fifth trophy she was groaning out loud, 'Please god, no. Not another one.'
"As I was brought up an only child, I think we both realise there's the potential for me to act spoiled if given the opportunity, and she likes to make sure I never get that opportunity."
