Now the sector magistrates will be responsible for copying at the examination centres instead of the education department officials.

According to official sources the Government has also decided to undertake vediography of such examination centres where from mass copying had been reported in the past. Additional funds will be provided by the Government for achieving the task.

The sources said that the chief secretary R Ramani has directed the divisional commissioners and district magistrates to divide the whole district into sectors on the basis of number of examination centres and appoint the sector magistrates to check copying.

No one will be allowed to assemble outside the examination centres. The use of loud speakers near the examination centres will also be banned, the sources added.

A control room will also be set up in every district at the office of district inspector of schools (DIOS) which will be operational for 24 hours. It will inform the official concerned at once for action in case of any emergency.

It may be recalled that following the setting up of self-centres the incidents of mass copying were reported in large number from different parts of the State last year. Concerned over this the chief minister has directed the district and police administration to tackle the menace with a tough hand this year.
