Odissi dance performance captivates all

ODISSI DANCE presented by Alka Kanungo and her troupe captivated the audience during 'Nrityanjali', the ‘Rail Mahotsava’ held at NCZCC recently.
The programme featured some vibrant forms of Odissi dance like ‘Shabda Nritya’ and ‘Bandha Nritya’ which are on verge of extension. The dance items presented by the troop were ‘Shakti- a tribute to women power’ based on ‘Shabda Nritya’.
The Nritya Abhinaya was a presentation of Leela by playful naughty Krishna.
Another dance item ‘Maharaas- a Jugalbandi of Manipuri and Odissi’ was also appreciated.
Budh Prakash, GM NCR was the chief guest of the programme organised under the guidance of Manju, president, NCRWWO. Prakash said, the works of social uplift being undertaken by NCRWWO is yielding excellent results.
NCRWWO's journal Nrityanjali was also released on the occasion.
Earlier, the cultural evening started with the welcome speech by Manju. She promised to undertake more sterilisation programme along with other educational and training programmes. Richa Negi, presented the annual report.
Chief Commissioner, railway safety, GM/RE/Allahabad, Commissioner Railway Safety, Ex-chairman Railway Board, Commissioner/ IT/ Allahabad, head of the departments of NCR and other senior officials were also present during the event.
