In a bid to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city, the Noida authority on Tuesday discussed a ‘mega plan’ of turning all arterial roads signal-free.

In a high-level meeting held here, the authority officials discussed the plan to construct flyovers/underpasses at 16 main points, which witness long traffic jams.
In the first phase, the authority will construct two half flyovers and a flyover on city’s one of the main roads and the Master Plan-II is to make it signal-free.
“The authority will soon start making estimates for two half flyovers and one flyover on the MP-II road. The objective is to decongest city roads as soon as possible with constructing flyovers/underpasses,” said AK Goyal, chief maintenance engineer, Noida authority.
“The authority is seriously working on a plan to decongest city roads. One of the half flyovers will be built opposite Shopprix Mall on the MP-II road. The other two locations are yet to be finalised,” said Pramanshu, additional chief executive officer (ACEO), Noida authority.
The Noida authority is working to make the detailed project report of another traffic junction at Model Town T-point on NH-24. The work on this project, the authority claims will start in next couple of months. “After Model Town T-point project, the next priority of the authority will be to decongest the MP-II road,” said Goyal.
During the previous Bahujan Samaj party (BSP) government, the Noida authority had conceived seven elevated roads to make main roads signal-free. One of the roads was MP-2 road. But that plan did not see the light of the day.
