An oil tanker derailed as the goods train was being shunted to a yard at Kannur Railway station today, Railway sources said.

The incident occurred around 1330 hours after one of the wheels of the oil tanker wagon jumped off the track while the train was being taken to the yard.

The train movement at the busy station was not affected due to the mishap, they said, adding that the derailed wagon was put on track after some time.
