BHARATIYA JANATA Party (BJP) corporators would raise the old issue of fund embezzlement to the tune of Rs 56 lakh in the meeting of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) council scheduled on January 28.
The BJP corporators have submitted a dozen questions for the Question Hour in the meeting. The Question Hour in the council meeting was introduced about four months back.
At least two corporators – Sanjay Sharma and NS Pal— have asked the question related to embezzlement of fund deposited by people for development in illegal colonies.
This embezzlement was detected in zone-11 a couple of years back. However, the BMC failed to take any concrete action in this matter, resulting in huge financial loss to its kitty. The BMC had suspended a clerk in this matter but no action was taken against any senior official.
Another corporator – Krishna Mohan Soni- has sought information related to implementation of Bhopal’s Narmada Water Supply Scheme. He has asked for the current status of the scheme’s implementation. He alleged that the utilisation of funds has not been proper.
Vishnu Khatri has asked information related to vacant plots of the BMC. Barelal Yadav has asked about information related to works of Water Works Department carried out during past two years. Balvir Yadav has asked about action taken after the red marks put up by the BMC administration on the buildings with illegal parts.
