One dead, 20 injured in Assam blast

Officials suspect ULFA's hand behind the blasts which occurred in a busy market area near a railway colony.

A woman was killed and twenty others, including three children, were injured in a blast near Northeast Frontier railway colony in Bamuni Maidan area on Saturday night.

The injured have been admitted to a nearby private hospital and the Guwahati Medical College (GMC) Hospital at Bhangaghar area.

The bomb went off in a market area near the railway tracks outside the colony near gate number six, Senior Superintendent of Police Nitul Gogoi said.

The deceased woman has been identified as S Begum, 50.

The area has now been cordoned off, the officer added.
