One held in Delhi gangrape case

Four men car forced a student in their car and raped her for two hours early on Sunday.

One person has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the rape of a college girl in New Delhi, police said on Monday.

"We have taken one person into custody based on descriptions provided by the victim," a police officer said.

"We are questioning him," the officer added.

Police said raids were on in the Dhaula Kuan and Vasant Vihar neighbourhoods of the city and the satellite town of Gurgaon to trace the perpetrators of the incident, which occurred early Sunday morning.

The victim, a student of the Sri Venkateshwara College, was staying as a paying guest in the adjacent Nanakpura colony.

The incident occurred at around 2.15 am on Sunday when the victim was walking back home with a friend after picking up food from a roadside eatery at Dhaula Kuan.

According to the police, four men in steel grey car forced the girl into the vehicle and raped her in the moving car for two hours before dumping her near the Nanakpura gurdwara.

The incident was the third such in the capital in the past 10 days.
