One killed, 39 injured in separate accidents

One person was killed and at least 39 others were injured, eight of them seriously, when two pick-up vans overturned at Telipara and Jurunti areas of Jalpaiguri district today, police said.

One person died and 16 others were injured when a pick up van, bound for Adivashi Bikas Parishad conference , turned turtle at Jurunti area, they said.

Six of the injured were in serious condition being treated at the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. Two others are under treatment at Mal sub divisional hospital.

In a similar mishap, 23 persons were injured, two of them critically, when a pick-up van, bound for the ABP conference at Nagrakata fell into a ditch at Telipara, police said.

Nine of the injured were admitted at Jalpaiguri Sadar Hospital and condition of two was stated to be critical.
