One killed in road mishap

One person was killed and another injured in a road mishap in Central Mumbai, police said on Monday. The incident took place on Sunday in Mahim when a taxi hit a motorcycle from the rear, injuring the duo identified as Pravin Thejam and his friend Nitin Bandekar, they said.

Both were taken to a nearby hospital where Bandekar was declared dead on arrival while Thejam sustained serious injuries, police said.

The taxi driver Mohammed Nazir Shaikh, was arrested and booked for rash and negligent driving, police added.
