One more swine flu death in Kerala

A 24-year-old woman died of H1N1 influenza in Malappuram on Wednesday, taking the number of deaths due to the pandemic in the state to 20.

Kadeeja, who was under treatment for pneumonia at a private hospital, died this afternoon. The woman's swab
samples were tested at Kasturba Medical College at Manipal and it confirmed her H1N1 status.

Meanwhile, nine persons tested positive for the virus on Wednesday, a health department release said. The cases were
reported from Thiruvananthapuram, Kannur, Kollam, Thrissur, Idukki, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts.

Swab samples of 57 persons had been taken for testing in the state overnight and a total of 19 persons had been quarantined in hospitals and 93 in their houses, the release said.
