In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Parrikar said: "The principle of OROP for the armed forces has been accepted by the government.""The modalities for the implementation were discussed with various stakeholders and are presently under consideration of the government. It will be implemented once the modalities are approved by the government," he said.

The comment comes as ex-servicemen continue their protest across the country over delay in the implementation of the scheme. However, the government said it was not formulating any policy for implementing the OROP scheme for paramilitary forces.
