Over 1,045 pilgrims leave for Amarnath

With Friday's batch, 69,291 devotees have left for Amarnath since the commencement of the yatra on June 10.

A fresh batch of 1,045 pilgrims left for the base camp on Friday for the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir.

Officials said that the batch comprising 592 men, 161 women, 22 children and 270 sadhus left early on Friday morning in a convoy of 35 vehicles.

They are on way to camps in Pahalgam and Baltal in the Valley from where they will proceed to the shrine.

With Friday's batch, 69,291 devotees have left for Amarnath since the commencement of the yatra on June 10.

Meanwhile, an official spokesman said that arrangements for the Budha Amarnath yatra to the shrine at Mandi in Poonch district were in full swing.

He said that a meeting of district officials, chaired by district development commissioner Parvez Malik, to review the arrangements was held at Rajouri district, through which the yatra passes.
