The anti-encroachment squad had reached Shyam Nagar in the morning to demolish some encroachments which included some houses. Initially, the residents sat outside their houses in protest but resorted to pelting the squad with stones when the drive began.

Some KDA members suffered injuries in the process. The police party accompanying the squad then, canecharged the protestors.

However, the drive could not be conducted as local women and children continued pelting stones at the squad from their houses while some women even stood before the KDA bulldozers.Additional policemen were requisitioned from Chakeri along with the Station Officer RK Singh.

It took more than an hour to pacify the protestors.

The mob also damaged a police vehicle and tried to set it on fire. There was total chaos with traffic coming to a halt on the highway nearby and some innocent commuters getting injured in the fiasco.

Later the injured were admitted to a private nursing home of the area.
