Office-bearers of the organisation strongly condemned officials for harassing junior engineers and forcing them to take voluntary retirement. Secretary of the organisation RC Verma said 22 junior engineers were working against 47 sanctioned posts of JE in the department, which had adversely affected their efficiency.

Following a call by the State Electricity Junior Engineers’ Organisation, JEs began an indefinite dharna at the deputy general manager’s office at Buxipur power substation in support of their demands on Monday. They also organised a meeting and demanded that the deputy general manager should convene a meeting for talks between junior engineers and senior officials.

Criticising the apathetic attitude of officials in resolving the demands of JEs, office-bearers of the organisation RN Singh and RC Verma said that JEs were harassed by senior officials.

They said each engineer was doing the work of three or four JEs. This had posed health problems for them, they said, adding that revenue collection work and billing system was also affected as JEs were overburdened.

They claimed KLG Systel had failed to provide electricity bills to consumers on
time.

They said the Systel worked under the guidance of the DGM, but due to apathetic attitude of company, employees were harassing consumers.
